BUCKY's furcula was the very first 'wish bone' to be discovered for Tyrannosaurus rex.
This specimen demonstrates how closely Theropod dinosaurs are related to living birds, and shows that Tyrannosaurus rex was more closely related to a Hummingbird than to Triceratops!
The furcula is shaped very much like a boomerang. The original specimen was broken on the left side, probably in life. There is a pathology at the base that is most likely due to a stress fracture that healed, indicating the powerful strength of this fearsome creature.
Cast replicas of BUCKY's furcula are available restored or unrestored.
Available as an unpainted, unmounted cast suitable for some research or reference purposes. Note: some portions of the original fossil may have been scientifically restored.
