Roger Clark’s “FAIRBURN AGATE, South Dakota State Gemstone,” is his third publication on the fascinating and beautiful Fairburn Agates (Fairburns) of South Dakota. Mary Clark's photography brings the Fairburn to center stage and allows it to shine.
This book gives much needed information on Fairburns; how they were formed, when they were deposited, and where you can find them. There is a short section on the geology of the Black Hills as well as a great chapter on the different agates of the Black Hills Region from western South Dakota into eastern Wyoming and northern Nebraska.
Even if you are not a Fairburn collector before you read this book, you may want to be one after you have read about and seen the magnificent agates. This book comes highly recommended to the novice as well as to the collector.
Contains beautiful full-color photographs of amazing agate specimens.
